A lot needs to be done. Most of my website www.approach2balance.org is dedicated to the subject. In short: 1. the forms used for billing and other purposes need to be evualated as many are stigma producing and hostile to recovery. 2. Recovery plans need to replace treatment plans. (Basic difference is treatment plans are imposed on us, while we help prepare recovery plans.) 3. An attitute that Recovery is not only possible, but to be expected. 4. A realization (the evidence exists) that drugs, at best, are only a partial answer. 5. A re-evualation of what is the result of the illness and what is a result of other factors. The video series How to Deal with Difficult People (now available on DVD)helped me in my recovery as it gives info on types of behaviors which are the result of personal styles as opposed to "the mental illness". Learning about what your difficult behavior actually stems from allows it to be changed, if you wish. 6. De-traumatise hospitalizations by creating facilities that individuals can go to, which are run by peers, whenever we believe we could use assistance to avoid going over the edge. 7. Adopt various "Vibrational" treatments - see my website or Vibrational Medicine for the 21st Century by Richard Gerber M.D.for more info on this. Probably more needs to be done as well.Approach2balance
